EE Sim Not Working on £1 Chat pack even after I've topped up

I ordered a PAYG sim from EE and it arrived. When I placed the order I explained that I needed the sim to be activated in the EU as I wanted it for my son who is heading back to the UK after the summer but needed it up and running now. 

 

So we've put the sim in, activated the sim, topped up, set up whatsapp accounts but the sim isn't working. It will receive text but not send. We have a really good 4G signal but no service. 

 

What exactly is the problem here and how do I resolve it?

@saltyuk   Are you in the EU now ? As you put “ I needed the sim to be activated in the EU”   If you are it will not work as this can only be done within the UK.    

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.
I am but I made this clear when I ordered the sim via EE

@saltyuk  It’ll work in the EU but has to be activated in the UK first.  Have you text AL to 150 this will show what allowance you have on that sim.
