EE ESim problems

Hello all,

Been having big problems with my iPhone. I had a iPhone 12 Pro but swapped to the 12 Pro Max.

I was using my physical sim as my contract and Esim as my PAYG business line and all was fine.

Anyhow, I swapped phones and my primary line is the Esim one and secondary is down as my contract. That shouldn’t be the case. When I make a call it try to use my physical sim to make a call it uses my Esim which has 2p on it currently. It does not give me the option to delete the esim plan by the way.

I called Apple and EE and they both said to do a factory reset via iTunes. I have done this multiple times but it’s still trying to use my Esim as my primary number and under Mobile Data it says that there is no sim installed (even though when I eject the sim it knows I have done so).

After many many calls to EE (who don’t seem to know much about Esim’s at all. Eventually someone at EE level 3 support said that my Esim number was down as my contract number and my contract number was down as my Esim number hence when making a call using the contract it tries to use the esim data/credit.

I’ve been told to pop into an EE store to get a fresh physical sim and that should make it primary. I just hope it works as I’ve been without my contract for 4 days now.

I don’t know if anyone knows a quicker way of getting this done as most networks give you the simple option of deleting the esim data plan but EE give you no option at all.

Just a work of warning to people if they go down the physical/Esim route.

Cheers

@waring192 , ESim only work with contract and not pay as you go,

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

@waring192 ,  ESim only work on contract plans, not pay as you go, so I would suggest you change your contract number to ESim and pay as you go to physical sim.

@waring192   Can you please clarify this

”I was using my physical sim as my contract and Esim as my PAYG business line and all was fine”

are you saying you was using the eSim as PAYG ?   Because if that’s what you are saying that’s your problem EE don’t support eSim for PAYG.  The fact you managed to get it work is a miracle.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

That’s what it was set up. I know you cannot have a Esim on contract.

Nope, I knew from ages ago when I started the esim you could only have it as PAYG.

I was told different?!

If that’s the case, why when I make a call does it try and use my PAYG (saying I have 2p on it) and not ESIM contract?!

@waring192 , I have no idea, but to make sure that the number you want as your primary number, this page may help as well:
