EE 4g unlimited SIM, Huawei B818 & Huawei Q2 Pro mesh combo issues

Hi, I have a Huawei B818 4g router and a Q2 Pro mesh. This was working well with an O2 data sim. However, having tested various (O2, Vodafone, EE) networks, EE gave the best speeds. So I got a EE business SIM (unlimited). Having swapped out the SIM I can get the internet to the B818. I have activated the SIM with EE.... BUT:

For some reason, the Q2 Pro mesh cannot get the connection to it any more. I have reset everything endless times. Why does the set up work with an O2 or Vodafone SIM but not EE? Is there something about IPv6 settings that I need to do? Is it because the SIM is not solely a data sim so I need to change some settings? Please help... I was up til 1am before giving up and putting the O2 sim back in. Seconds later it all works perfectly again... but this O2 runs out after 30 days. Has anyone got some pointers for me please?

Hi @Jpi,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

EE does use IPv6 but I don't know why that would affect your mesh setup. I'd recommend contacting the manufacturer of your mesh system to see if they are aware of any settings you would need to change.

Try disabling IPv6 on the Hauwei B818. To do this, click on Network Settings and select the EE network profile. Change IP Type from "IPV4 & IPV6" to "IPV6" and click Save.

I think @thomasod meant to say this but in order to disable IPV6 in APN Settings you need to select IPV4 only, not IPV6.
