Disgusting Price Increase!

I've just had the email that you are now cashing in on the cost of living crisis by smashing a massive 14.4 % increase on my bill.

Its absolutely disgusting, at a time when people are struggling to eat and heat their homes you decide to hit us with that ridiculous increase, not just a few % you up it by 14.4%

Its sick and I'll never be using EE again when this contract ends, I'll also be going out of my way to warn other people from using you, there's absolutely no justification in a hike like that, its pure greed and you should be ashamed.

You're a disgrace!

Well email sent off to CEO , I have asked for a copy of everything especially how they calculate affordability, how they explain the price increase!!  I don't know what it is yet but I'm definitely going to nail  EE to the wall on this, im looking at every aspect of how EE operate , i get shocking service at work from EE so going to phone everyday and report phone not working!! With a screen capture for evidence!! They want to charge extortionate prices then I want a legendary service!! The advantage I have over a lot of people here is I used to work for talktalk executive office before they shipped it out to Warringtons and offshore so I know the rules they  have to play by from complaints process point of view,  from  timelines , how much it cost EE if a complaint hits adr to how much it cost EE if the complaint goes to the ombudsman, I can get value for money off this 15% increase, so if anybody has any ongoing complaints with EE and you don't feel your getting anywhere then I'm willing to assist and if it going to cost EE money then even better!!  So This is message to all mods on this forum I have gone from a very happy customer to what is going to turn into a nightmare for EE.   Anyway what does EE stand for Extremely Expensive?

@Dave6018 : They don't have to explain their calculations to you, nor will they!

The ADR is the Ombudsman!

You raise valid points Dave, their service is mediocre at best!

They should all be properly regulated and looked at, the pure profiteering needs end and people should get value for money, the current prices are extortionate before this uncalled for, unjustified hike to line their pockets

this cost of living crisis won’t hit them, cos they crank the prices up beyond the hit they’ll take to guarantee record profits, that’s completely wrong and anyone who tries to defend it is blinkered and missing the point

We all know that, you’re missing the point. They know people can’t afford it, an extra £10 is a lot of money when people are already struggling, they could have not let greed take over and actually helped people, played their part, added a small increase, but 15% is just beyond disgusting

It is not EE's responsibility to help anyone, customers should not agree to something that they potentially cannot afford. If you think 14.4% is too high etc, whatever number you come up with as an alternative there'll be someone who thinks it's too much.

I dislike the the annual increase mid contract, I don't think it's right myself but it's in the contract that I agreed to so I accept it and get on with it. As for the 14.4%, I think you yourself said something like when it was much lower it didn't matter, so the calculation is okay when it suits you. If the regulator decided that annual mid contract increase were no longer to be allowed then it would just be built into their price plans.

Personally speaking, for years now I've been sick and tired of the pitiful savings interest rates so I'm glad of the higher interest rates. We all have a responsibility to manage our finances, so if a monthly increase of £4 for example causes difficulty, then don't take out that contract in the first place. Yes I know everything's going up and it's open season for profiteering, but the same applies. If people aren't budgeting for the 'what ifs' then it's not the responsibility of businesses to help them out.

You couldn’t talk less sense if you tried! You can’t possibly budget for the complete unknown, it’s absolutely impossible!

2 years ago this crisis didn’t exist, there’s no possible way in the world to take into account 15% pay increase that simply hasn’t happened before, average increases everyone is familiar with and have been their entire lives are like 2 to 3% tops, you can account for that.

You don’t go into a mobile phone contract and think, hmmmm could I afford this if it doubles overnight, you’re just talking complete nonsense and your preaching about budgets isn’t helping.

no one could predict what’s happening and the businesses do have a duty to their customers, there’s without doubt people that simply cannot afford this hike in price, the point remains, if everyone is struggling this year then the businesses should share that pain… for a year! They shouldn’t do the maths to work out what they’d need to charge to break last years record profits and then go with that, it should be a fair affordable price that sits someone in the middle, they are greedy, disgusting, selfish people and I really google the tables turn soon

It's CPI plus 3.9% so just being sensible anyone would know that it'll always be 5% as a minimum so the extra is 9.4%, you keep quoting 15% as though that is being added 'on top'. Just because someone hasn't experienced it before doesn't mean to say that it hasn't happened before.

I suspect that I'm from a different generation but I was brought up to understand the importance of saving and budgeting, if you live to your means then you'll always be caught out.

Theres a world of difference between living to your means and suddenly being screwed over by greedy companies to the tune of £300 Plus per month.

No average person can soak up that money, its not down to bad budgeting or different generations, its to do with greedy profiteering and it will all come crashing down because people have had enough.

There will always be people who are blind to it or just ignorant to whats happening, people who will just keep bending over and handing over their hard earned money like a good boy but normal people have had enough. Its crazy that you can actually see how wrong it is but still come on a forum defending being screwed over, its laughable how they've got you hooked.

Well said , we all need to stick together on this.

Your missing the point , with standard phone and broadband you are allowed to exit your contract without a penalty!!  So why should mobiles be different?

I personally can afford it but it doesn't make it right, if everybody has the same attitude that you have, then where will it stop ?

I will be voting with my feet and leaving EE at the soonest opportunity!!

It shouldn't matter if you can afford it or not, this company makes billions in profit!! I have nothing against companies that make profit but my issue is some people rely on mobiles phones.

We already have people out there who have to choose between food or heating and now maybe the only means of communication!!

EE could of gone a different route but chose greed over helping everybody!!  Can you imagine if EE said no price increase for 12 months , they would of had flock of renewals and new customers!!  Instead I'm personally looking at taking 140 pound a month away from them and I also manage an EE business account at 1200 a month that im looking at switching!  Then I have the Mrs and mum and dad who have all joined EE on my recommendation, if everybody on this forum goes ahead with what they have said I can genuinely see EE loosing more income than they gained through this price change!

I know somebody will say well all providers are the same, but that's not the issue a message needs to be sent to providers that you screw us we will leave! But the upside to switching I can take up new customer offers and cash back!!

EE need to remember without us they have nothing!!

@Cookyweb  Yes you will keep handing over your hard earned money like a good boy on the simple fact you agreed that you would accept the terms and conditions of the contract, which was CPI +3.9%..

your option is to pay off the contract and move to a different network,  then you’ll probably complain again to that network when prices are increasing again.

No one here has said they are not happy about it please remember that.
