I just got a flurry of texts from EE indicating that I had used 80% of my allowance followed seconds later indicating that I had used 100% of my data. Appreciate a fast network, but given I was listening to a podcast and not interacting with my phone I was surprised to discover this. I now have no data left and somehow in a 25 minute cycle ride consumed 15Gb of data, and getting a warning seconds before running out is not really much help.

Your not going to use 15gb of Data in 25mins watching a Ultra HD Video let alone listening to a Pod Cast so something else is going on there..

Are you sure it was a Data Use warning and not a Data Gifting one.
What does it tell you if you go here -
