Can't use apple watch data with SIM only plan

I don't seem to be able to use cellular data on my apple watch (see screenshots).

I've got a 30-day data pack on SIM only. 

Any ideas?

It looks to me like you can get a 30 day sim only deal online: https://shop.ee.co.uk/sim-only/pay-monthly-phones

Is this the thing you're talking about?

I specifically switched to EE so I could leave my phone at home while out running and still get texts and calls.

These are sim only plans but not 30 day ones.

They are either 12 month or 24 month plans.

But will still work with the watch.
