Can't get EE call centre to unlock my Huawei B525s-23a

winniechad
Explorer

i've rang EE three times now to get them to unlock my Huawei B525s-23a mobile broadband router . I get a different answer each time i ring ranging from "it can't be done"

to "i'll contact the relevant dept and they will be in touch" which obviously hasn't happened. I believe legally EE have to supply an unlock code for a charge if you are in contract and not in arrears and i've seen other posts where they have been successful in getting the unlock code.

Any help on a way forwards would help

THANKS

i'd just like to thanks by EE Community Support Team for such a prompt

reply and getting my problem solved so quickly. V impressed with EE service in supplying an unlock code which did not benefit EE in anyway. You just may have retained a customer when my contract ends.

@winniechad : There are no laws/Regs to compel phone unlocking but most networks will do so for their own custs.

Where did you yourself get this device itself originally? Did you buy it yourself new direct from EE or from a 3rd-party reseller or is it 2nd-hand? The unlocking process & costs are different. Was it originally on contract or PAYG? How old is it? EE won't unlock contract devices less than 6 months old.

Hi, I have the same problem here the same wifi box yellow with black front and I am now out of contract. I want to unlock the device so I can use it in my caravan when I go away but I want to see which network would work the best. Can someone please help me with unlocking it.

Hi @Dawpor,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

If the device was on contract, you can unlock it at myaccount.ee.co.uk/app/device-unlock.

For more information, please see How to unlock your EE pay monthly phone or device.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for replying, I got it directly from ee on a 2 year contract which ended this month.

Also I'm worried as I can't remember the sim phone number as it was never needed and it has now disappeared from the ee app as my account is now closed. Also I don't have a clue how I would unlock it as it isn't a phone obviously. I've had a phone unlocked before but not one of these things. I do hope you can guide me with this.
