Can i keep existing number

My brother bought me my current phone on contract a few years ago (ee). I have just purchased a new model but would like to keep my existing number, still on ee, but my own monthly contract.

Is there a way i can do this as the number is linked to my brother's account and name, not mine?

TIA

@El-Frink  Your brother need to request that this number be made in to a PAYG number he also needs to give notice to terminate the contract.

Once it’s a PAYG ( 30 days after you gave notice) you can then request it to be moved to your account/contract.

 Or

you can your brother can request the pac code for this number by calling customer service so it can then be ported to a different network on PAYG.  Once it’s on that network you need to ask that network for the pac code so you can then give that pac code to EE to port it back to your new account/contract.    This method will be quicker but it’s a lot of messing around and it should take around 2 days.

You can not move a contract number to a different contract it has to be a PAYG number before you can move it. What you are asking sounds simple but the software doesn’t allow it to happen when it’s a contract number.

Thank you for your response!

I'm guessing there's no way for me to simply ask either the company I just purchased the new phone from, or ee directly to swap the number to the new phone ,  as it's my brother's account and name?

@El-Frink  Nope.  It’s your brothers account/number not yours.    Your brother is responsible for this so he needs to make sure that notice is given to terminate the contract or it will just switch to a 30 day rolling contract once it reaches its minimum term.

Thank you for your help. Looks like it'll be a new number for me then... 😕
