I am trying to add new card details and receiving an error message that it is not recognised as a Visa Card. IT IS a Visa Card. SO what now...?

Are you sure you are entering the right details from the front of your card?
Are you giving a VISA Debit long number when a VISA Credit card is expected? Usually the first few digits allow recognition of a VISA Credit card. Have you omitted the last four digits if silver on the hologram?
Are you entering a bank account number when the long number is requested, or vice versa?
