Hi
I am contemplating switching from Vodafone to EE.
I live in a remote area in a small cottage which has extremely thick walls. In order to receive wi-fi throughout the house I use the BT Whole Home Wi Fi system ( The original 3 white discs, not the latest black disc version) which works extremely well.
Bizarrely these will not work with the latest BT router and as EE are partnered or part of BT I wondered if they will work with the latest EE router?

Hi @Jimbo185,
Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂
I believe the BT discs are compatible with most routers. Did BT mention why they aren't compatible with their latest router?

Hi James
Thank you for the welcome and reply.
Apparently the Judy don’t work with their latest router.
They now have a Mark 2 version which look exactly the same, but black!
If I was being cynical I’d suggest it’s a money making ploy forcing anyone with the new router to buy the new version.
I don’t know the technical reasons but was definitely told by their technical team that the white ones will not work.
Jim.

Hi @Jimbo185
Thanks for coming to the community.
Is the BT Whole Home WiFi, the same as the ones you can purchase on our add to plan page?
If so, the information in the 'full specs' does say they are compatible with any operating system.
Thanks.
Leanne.

Thanks Leanne
Yes mine are those.
Just seems strange that they definitely will not work with BT’s latest Router.
I suppose the next question is:
Does anyone with the latest EE router also have and successfully use the White BT Whole Home Wi-Fi system?
Thanks
Jim.

Have you factory reset them and started the install from scratch?

I am not yet with EE.
I am currently with Vodafone and the BT discs work fine with Vodafone.
However I am looking to change provider to either BT or EE but don’t want to change if those discs won’t work.
I already know they will not work with the latest BT router so am trying to establish definitely one way or another if they work with the latest EE router.

The latest EE fibre routers are based upon the latest BT routers.

Thank you for that.
So it seems I won’t be changing to BT or EE.
Shame but thanks for everyone’s help.

I would question why the original BT Whole Home Wi Fi system won't work with the latest BT routers. It's just a further router.
