@LisaMac37 Unfortunately no they are not free
0871 are not free to call from any EEdevice. The cost of calling these numbers can be broken down into a service charge and an access charge, the latter may be significantly higher from mobiles so always consider calling 0871 numbers from a landline.

From a landline the service charge will be the same as from a mobile. Only the Access charge will be cheaper by 54p.
You can look up the cost of these calls in Service charge costs for calls beginning 08 & 09 .
Better still look up an alternative 01, 02 or 03 no. at Say No To 0870 .

@XRaySpeX It’s a 0871 number not a 0870 number. So you can say no as much as you like because that’s not the number being called. 😆

Except @XRaySpeX is correct. Say No To 0870 is free to use & Which recommended.
It permits you to search any 0842, 0843, 0844, 0845, 0870, 0871, 0872 or 0873 number to find an inclusive or geographic rate 01, 02 or 03 number or a free 0800 or 0808 number. You can search by number or by company name.
I've been using it for over 2 decades & can count the few times they have not had a viable alternative on the fingers of one hand. So enjoy your lols @Chris_B
