5GEE Home Router Issues

Hello,

I have a 5GEE Home Router on the unlimited data for my main broadband solution.

However, I am having huge issues with the speed and signal.

Located my nearest masts, set the device up to point towards them and have also installed a 5G Poynting Aerial.

I turn the device on, I get 4-5 bars on 4G+ and 2-3 bars on 5G with a signal strength or around 70. Speeds vary between 40-50MBPs but can get up to 90MBPs.

However, 30-60 mins pass and the speed drops to 1MBPs or slower, no 5G signal and 4G at around 1-2 bars. Reboot the device and get the same initial performance. I find myself rebooting 10-20 times per day.

I have monitored network checker and initially there were some issues being worked on, however since they have fixed this the issue still continues even though no problems are being reported.

Anyone else having this or know how to resolve?

Hi @mrtizzard

Firstly, what was your method for locating the nearest network sites?

Are there any options on the router software for "4G/5G only" or "NSA" mode or similar?

Do you have an EE mobile?

Hello,

I used various ways to determine signal. 1. I generally know where the masts are. 2. I used several websites/apps to confirm. 3. I moved the external and the router around pointing at all directions from all sides of my home in 15 degree increments until I got the strongest and most consistent signal.

There are no such options on the 5GEE Home Router which is a Huawei 5G CPE Pro as far as I can see or have been able to find.

I do not have an EE Mobile no.

Which websites/apps have you used? I only ask because there's many apps available, but many of them have some very dubious and unreliable data and very few of them can be relied upon to give consistently accurate info on mast site locations.

Getting RSRP/RSRQ figures in real-time while orienting the antenna, is certainly a fair method.

Has this always been a problem with this router, or has it been ok in the past and problems have only recently started?

The main ones were CellMapper and MastData, there were others as well but they seemed the most comprehensive. Coupled with the testing I think I have covered that as best I can.

I have always had issues since I have had it which is about 3 weeks now. There have been occasions where I get a full day or even two of great performance with no reboots required but the majority of the time it's constant reboots.

Its almost as if I connect to a mast I am close to and get expected performance and then I get kicked off or my signal/speeds somehow limited. It doesn't matter if I am using the internet or not so can't narrow it down to heavy usage like streaming etc.
