I've done this a few times and thought it would be bad to break tradition, so wanted to create a thread for people to discuss their preorders etc as we all wait for our new iPhones.

Hopefully that’s not true. I’ve never had any problems at all and I’ve been with EE for over a decade now.

Update to my previous post.

After calling digital sales who are the folks that deal with the stuck orders and the XKO numbers, they also deal with any issues, after I placed my order I got a message saying unable to complete, please call 0800 169 0310.

I placed 4 orders in total for the iP14PM Purple 128MB, the first 3 I got right through the order screen and up to payment, put the code in that Virgin Money sent me, then I'd get a 404 error from EE.  On the final attempt I used the app.  This time it all went through but with the message to give them a call.

As I was on the phone, 4 emails came through, with 4 different XKO references.  There were also 4 lots of upgrade fee pending on my credit card.  The lady I spoke to took the last XKO from me, confirmed everything was OK and emailed me the order confirmation with the 002 number, she then cancelled the 3 other XKO's that'd come through.  Now on my credit card the upgrade fee for the last XKO has been taken fully, the other 3 are all pending.

What it seems is that the XKO is confirmation your order has been taken, then the system checks the orders before fully taking the amount held from your card, by calling digital sales on the above number it's expedited the process because the lady I spoke to confirmed the orders right there and then, I also ordered a watch whilst I was on the phone to her and got that 002 reference through almost immediately.

I can track both online using the 002 and my email address.  Not sure why we have to have this palava every year!

@Keithop  that’s not terribly argumentative. It’s understandable. It just doesn’t acknowledge the point I was trying to make having worked in an ecom site when pre-orders for new products go live that you might have to base delivery estimates on forecasts until you actually have the stock in the DC. Perhaps there should be a disclaimer on the website, but until they physically have the stock from apple they have to be guided by what they think they’ll get. In an ideal world they’d be sat on the stock now. The reality is that it’ll be arriving tonight / tomorrow to be picked and distributed into the carrier networks Wednesday / Thursday.

sorry if you thought I was defending the service you’ve had. I work in logistics so have some understanding/ sympathy for what they’ll be doing right now to get the orders out as soon as they can.

hey no need to be sorry, I completely understood your point.

I've worked in online logistics for more years than I care to remember 🙂 and the usual case is manufacturer says you're getting 500 units of X. We then set up the site with a stock level of 450 (allowing for a level of returns, failures, stock problems etc.) and every time someone orders 1, we take one off the stock level. When it gets to 0 we say "sorry sold out but more on the way!"

If we don't know how many we're getting AT ALL, which is pretty rare, then our website says "pre-order now. Delivery unknown - awaiting stock"

What we would never do is just say "expect delivery on launch day" when we don't know that's the case 🙂

oh and I guess a PS. which is that sometimes stuff goes wrong like we had a shipment stolen. Once a container ship lost our order over the side 🙂    so yeah stuff goes wrong, but it's all about managing expectations and never ever overpromising just to get the orders in.

Did you have £100 upgrade early fee? Is that what you mean by fee

Hi. I placed order for iPhone pro max deep purple 256 on Sunday. I only received one email saying your order is on its way but I know the phone is not launched yet. But I didn’t receive any order number or tracking number for my order. So I rung EE CS today and they gave me order number but when I try to punch in the numbers on the online tracking it doesn’t work. Has anyone else faced problem. I’m worried now if my order is given through or not. In past whenever I upgraded my phone usually my ee accounts gets updated and reflect the new tariff and details about order but this time I got nothing . Can anyone help

Would it be normal to have made your pre order of the new iPhone - upgraded but not received an email or anything about the upgrade? Just seems really strange that I haven’t received anything.
Any advice would be greatly received!

I’ve had a confirmation text message and can see the payment for delivery was taken from my bank account. But like you no email. So I guess for now, it’s normal maybe

It’s EE so we will get our new phones eventually which is the main thing and it’s perhaps a waiting game for them right now too ?

fingers crossed for Friday eh lol

Hi @Silvrspoons

If you spoke to customer services and they saw your order then that means the order has gone through. DPD will be in touch with you with tracking information once the delivery is ready to go through.
