Hi, has any one experienced iPhone battery drain since joining EE ?
I was transferred over from Plusnet just over a month ago and have noticed the battery on my iPhone 6s does not last half as long as it use to, checked the battery use and condition and all looks normal with a battery condition of 90%. My wife has the same phone and has experienced the same issue. The battery drain appears to be worse over night when not in use , and no app’s running in the background.
Any ideas much appreciated

...but why would it only be a problem when using the EE nework? Surely it would be the same whichever network the phone is using? This is where this whole thread started. Whatever is going on with the apps on our phones, worked just fine on PlusNet, and also work fine for me now on GiffGaff (O2), but not EE. I can only assume it is a problem with the local mast, or else everyone would be experiencing this problem?

@Danng8 And yet only 3 users on here reporting this is out of all the users who ported over from plusnet. Something isn’t right and trying to find a cause is why you are here, correct? So start with the basics first as something has changed and why I don’t know so start at the beginning with what can be done on the device. It’s called problem-solving and you go over the very basics first before you start more complex trouble shooting like factory resetting the device.

@Danng8 I'd be surprised if it's a network/mast issue, I mostly have zero signal and with wifi and wifi calling on, I see a battery drop of around 9% over 14 hours if the phone is rarely used.
As has been suggested, you need to look at what's using the battery under the Battery Settings as a starting point.

@Clifford11j @Danng8 @Miridel Can you all state what iPhone you have and what firmware version is on that device. Also what the modem firmware is. This is found within settings>about.
And not forgetting what are your top three used apps in your battery stats.. after clicking show activity. The time of each app. Please

Thank you Chris, I very much appreciate you trying to help. Here are the details you requested:
Phone: Apple iPhone SE 2020
iOS Version: 17.0.3
Modem Firmware: 5.00.00
Network Provider: EE 55.0
Top 3 apps (Last 24 hours):
1. Google Maps. 18% (background activity): 20 minutes (background)
2. Gmail: 15%: 8 minutes (6m on screen - 2m background)
3. WhatsApp: 11%: 22 minutes (15m on screen - 7m background)

@Danng8 do you have these apps enabled to use backgrounding ?
two apps are Google owned and what’s app is facebook. Both of these companies do like your information and like to track you. Haha.
Let’s wait on the others before I say anything else.

Hi Chris sorry for the delayed response, No apps left open as I always without fail log out of them and swipe them up to cancel the.
I have also turned off back ground refresh , and lowered the brightness of the screen, most of what you have suggested I have spent over an hour with Apple support doing with no avail.
I thought EE network staff should respond within 48 hrs, almost a week now with no response, I am not very impressed by EE customer service I must confess.

Battery status, has dropped from 98% down to 89% now owing to the phone requiring more regular charging, exactly what Apple said would happen.
No apps running in the background .

Yes, I have just about exhausted everything I have been asked to try by EE (150) - I have found them quite friendly and responsive, but clearly unable to cope with what appears to be a strange problem encountered by very few customers. Their first line support quite naturally suggest all the usual troubleshooting steps we all know about already. It would need an expert to solve the problem, and I don't think it's worth their time putting someone like this onto it.
So, I would strongly urge you to try out a SIM from a different provider to see it it makes any difference. In my case I have found Giffgaff (O2) reduced my battery drain to less than 1% per hour (whatever the setting on my phone!). I also tried Lebara (Vodafone), and this was worse at 5% per hour, but whatever setting I try with EE it's always well over 10% per hour. I have no idea what is going on here, and can only think it is something incompatible with my particular phone (SE 2020) in my particular location. Initially I thought it was a mast fault in my area, but EE now say they can find no faults.
My tests are done by leaving my fully charged phone on overnight in the same physical position in the house with no apps running, background refresh off, and with location services off, so as to factor out as many variables as possible. EE drains completely within 8 hours, Giffgaff loses about 6%, and Lebara loses about 36%.
I have factory reset my phone (again) today (what a pain that is!) and it has made no difference (again), so will go back to EE one last time and if I can get someone who knows what they are doing, I'll reluctanly give up and move to O2.
Do post back here though to report back if you do try changing your SIM, as it might help others who encounter this weird problem 👍
