My RCS chats stopped working on my Pixel 6 on the morning of October 1st. This happened to my phone, my wife's and my parents as well. We are all with EE and can no longer send RCS chats. RCS chats says 'connected' under Messages settings. I've tried restarts, clear cache/storage, uninstall of carrier services, disable/enable RCS.
Has anyone else experienced this issue and knows how to fix it?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Hi Jbone24 (and the rest of the community),
I, like you have an (unlocked) Pixel 6 and am experiencing the same issue.
RCS Chats are completely shut down / not working for me (or my wife, also on a Pixel 6) either.
I have also tried all manner of resetting carrier settings, restarts, clear cache/storage, disable/enable RCS, remove/reinstall Google Messages all to no avail.
My Status shows as: "Setting Up, trying to verify your phone number" (and has been in this state for hours).
Ok, now, here is the kicker: (I hope this doesn't get me kicked to the curb), I am in the USofA on Red Pocket Mobile which is a Verizon MVNO.
So, is this a Verizon issue, Google issue, Pixel 6 issue? IDK, hopefully, this gets resolve soon!
I have been searching all over the interwebs and this is the first message I have seen that is recent in nature. Most everything else I see is months or years old of folks have RCS connectivity issues.
So, I am glad it's not just not me! 😉

Good afternoon @Jbone24.
Welcome to the EE Community, and thanks for taking the time to bring this to our attention too.
Are all of the affected numbers on the same account, or do your partner and parents have separate accounts?
Also what exactly is happening when you try to send these messages?
Peter

Thanks for sharing your experience here @ScottVinzant.
Welcome to the EE Community too 😊
Is it only recently you've noticed this issue too, or has it been going on a while?
Also is Red Pocket your everyday network, or are you an EE customer trying to connect from the USA at the moment?

Peter,
I believe that this RCS issue just started within the last day or so.
Red Pocket is the MVNO I (and my wife) use for everyday calling/texting/data.
No, I am not an EE customer or trying to connect from the USA.
I just saw that post in a search and thought that since it was so fresh (compared to the rest of the RCS trouble posts) I would take a change and see if there was a solution to the issue.
I am becoming more convince that it is a Google issue.
I have found a few other suggestions to try, sadly, none of them worked.

Cheers @ScottVinzant, as RCS isn't a network specific service, there's a good chance that the issue @Jbone24 is facing is similar to yours.
I've asked our support teams to see if we've had any similar reports today and there doesn't seem to be any recurring patterns, but it's interesting that you're both Pixel 6 users.

Here's the fix (if you're running Android 15 Beta). Remove yourself from the beta and follow the steps to revert back to Android 14. Unfortunately this means you'll have to format your phone but at least you get RCS back

Thanks for sharing this @Jbone24.
I'm really glad to hear that you managed to get this working again too!
If you're running a beta then there's always the risk of some services not being perfectly optimised for this, but fingers crossed you won't see any further issues moving forwards 🤞

There definitely is, learned my lesson. Oddly enough though, this issue seems to be isolated to the Pixel 6 only. Just adding this in here for reference if any stumbles across this thread. Thanks for your help Peter!

If you are running a beta and have a problem, report it to Google, so that it gets fixed when we get it. 😀
