Did you mean:

Why does EE TV Box switches off for 2 mins at 8am every day ?

Does anyone else find that their EE TV switches itself off automatically for two minutes every day at the same time?

I can flick back to Freeview but it's just a little annoying when it keeps interrupting Everybody Loves Raymond every morning!!

Thanks

Just to be clear, the internet is still working fine, so that's not the reason

What do you mean when you say it switches off?  Does the channel go black?  Does the TV Box turn itself completely off? Do any messages appear on screen?  What if you try to change channel?

Ignore my question above - I can see from our logs that at exactly 31 seconds past 8am every day, your TV sends a message to your TV Box Pro to say that the HDMI has been disconnected.  The box automatically stops the video if it doesn't believe it's connected to a display.

This would happen if you're changing to a different input on the TV, turning the TV off, launching an app on the Smart TV, etc.  Do you have anything that could be triggering it?  Any automation?  Smart device that runs a routine at 8am?  Maybe a light that turns on/off at that time, which could possibly be causing interference?

Hi Darren

Thanks for your reply.  I don't think I have anything set to occur at 8am although I do have a couple of Alexa's that sometimes seem to do their own thing.

It's not a huge problem. I just found it bizarre that it was happening on a regular basis.

Thank you for your time

Phil

Hi @Seagull_Phil very interesting issue this one, on investigation it appears to be the TV that is the likely cause.

The box is seeing the HDMI connection go to "Not Connected" followed by "ACTIVE_HDCP_OFF" at around the same time most days - that pair of events is most often seen when the TV switches to another HDMI input or goes to standby.

Couple of questions to try and find the cause:

  • Are you actively watching at the time the issue happens?
  • Does your TV have a Timer function that could be trying to change the mode?
  • Is HDMI-CEC enabled on your TV (in case another device is triggering the switch)?

Thanks

David

We may not have made enough of the 'two minutes'.

Are you saying that if left untouched, the YouView box  restarts playing the programme after two minutes?
