New EE TV service on Apple TV

I understand the new EE TV Service has just been launched, including via a customised EE Apple TV 4K box. I currently have Sky Stream so EE TV via an Apple TV box is a. good proposition. It would be great to hear reviews of the service via Apple TV from those who are early adopters of the service (I assume some trials must have taken place too)

even with BT Sport ultimate through the EE Apple TV app, I only get stereo PCM through the Sonos arc, have to watch through the discovery+ app to get Dolby Atmos. Hope Dolby Atmos and UHD will come to the EE app, along with the ability to pause live TV.

TNT Sports Ultimate supports UHD in SDR or HDR.

The channels from the EE TV app on Apple TV are currently restricted to stereo, but needless to say, we're doing all we can to make the Apple TV experience match or better the TV Box.

Hi Elliot,

Have you had any issues with picture quality? mine seems to go blurry for minutes at a time, almost like a bandwidth issue, though it is plugged in via Ethernet. Also finding the white square on the top right quite irritating when watching NOWTV channels.

Playlists have been mentioned on here a few times.  I've had the official answer back: we're not allowed.  The EE TV content (including TV channels/programmes) doesn't meet the Apple TV requirements for being added to their playlists.

If you have any feedback about why/how you'd use this feature, we may be able to implement something within the EE TV app itself.  We're always open to feedback/suggestions.

Your stats do look very unusual @Aaron_g1986 -  e.g. between 7:26pm and 9:12pm last night, I can see your quality raised and dropped many times, from one extreme to the other.  Can I ask you to please email me at tv.apps@ee.co.uk so that I can provide some instructions to get further details from your box?

Hi, unfortunately, I’m not best place to answer this question as I’m partially cited, so I can’t really tell on picture quality.

Hi Darren, thanks for reply, hopefully Dolby digital 5.1 and Dolby atmos  wear available will come to the app in future

Hi all been following these forums since launch. BT Fibre user here currently using HD Homerun/Channels DVR with my Apple TVs.

Really like the look of the EE service but, are there any plans to launch an advert removal/skip option bundle?

Know of Individual advert removal subscriptions on ITVX, C4+ but nothing for C5 & UKTV - yet they are via SkyStream.

Don’t think I could give up the PVR with all the adverts. Also all the catch up content is it held within the EE app or bounces you to the content provider apps?

Darren with regard to playlists feedback.  We currently have both Sky Stream and EE TV.

My wife predominantly uses Sky stream in one room where she can simply add  programmes that she wants to watch from the TV guide to her playlist. The benefits to her are:

1. if she is unavailable or misses a programme she can simply go to her playlist and watch it. Yes you can do the same if you record it - but playlists are easier to use and manage.

2. She hinds it easier to navigate the playlists than a list of recordings and the various options to manage recordings.

3. You can have separate playlists for different people - again making finding and managing playlists easier.

I have EE TV full sport using Discovery and Now TV which I watch on the TV Pro Box in another room or on a chromebook using the Now or Discovery apps. The benefits of this to me are that I do not need Sky whole home (which I would to watch on another sky stream box or other device (if I had sport through sky). Also sky go  on a laptop is only 720p compared to 1080p using the Boost add on for Now sport.

Playlists for me would be beneficial on an Apple TV device using the EE TV app e.g.  if I missed a match or sporting event as I could watch the full  (not highlights) events from a playlist. Mainly live sports events that I am unavailable for or miss.

I assume that the playlist simply points to a recording in the cloud and so would be dependent on the EE TV app having cloud storage rights to have programmes accessed in this manner.

Anyway I hope this feedback helps.

Does the EE TV app allow the adding of programmes to Up Next in the Apple TV app?
