Hi,
I have recently ordered EE TV and set it up. Here are my first impressions:
I ordered the Big Sport package with the EE TV Box Pro because I wanted the ability to record Formula 1 so I don't have to wait up to 72 hours for Now to make it available on catchup. We use non EE TV / Generic Apple TV's at home so the purpose of the Box Pro for me is just to record the F1.
Setting up the Box Pro was very easy and I was quite impressed with the quality of the UI and the responsiveness. Channel changing is quite quick compared to similar systems such as Sky Stream. No crashes and only had 1 message saying I was watching on too many devices which gave an option to resolve (might have been because I was watching TNT Sports in the EE TV app on the Apple TV and I don't have extra boxes on my account).
I did a test recording of the Mexican GP replay on Sky Sports F1 and it worked and offered series link options. Fast forwarding and rewinding is a lot better than it was on Sky Stream and almost as good as Sky Q or a Freesat box. The real test will be this weekend when I have set up to record all the Brazilian GP sessions. It has the ability to pause live and watch a recording while it is still recording so its perfect for watching F1 when you cant watch live or need to join in a bit late.
On our Apple TV's I didn't really see the point of using the EE TV app as Discovery+ is included in the package and watching TNT Sports on Discovery+ gives you the watch from start or watch live option which EE TV app doesn't. However the fast forward and rewind UI on EE TV app is much better than Discovery+. I would have used the EE TV app more if it had all of the channels, but I understand that it is restricted to mostly TNT, Eurosport, Discovery and a few other channels unless you get an EE branded Apple TV. On the Box Pro I thought that the Freeview channels provided in internet mode were quite a good selection and included HD versions of the Channel 5 channels which I didn't expect.
Areas for improvement:
I know the answer to these will be no but I'm just giving customer feedback.
Device options are too limited. It's a Box Pro or an EE Apple TV. Why can't you order both and pay for it along with the additional device charges per month? If I was given that option I would have ordered an EE Apple TV as well for our other TV and paid the extra charges. So a bit of money left on the table there due to limited options.
Not having all of the channels on the EE TV app for generic Apple TV's is a bit of a let down. I know it's down to agreements but if that could be changed it would be the best TV service in the UK and give Apple TV users a complete TV service. At least the excellent TV Launcher app can stand in the gap for now and provide that functionality. Also TV Launcher works well with all the additional EE TV subscriptions I now have and allows me to choose which app to launch the channels from (Discovery+ or EE TV for TNT sports as an example)
The Mini box doesn't have the ability to watch recordings from the Box Pro. Not having that functionality prevented me from ordering the mini box as well, so again money was left on the table due to limited options.
My final comment/observation relates to this forum. What fantastic customer service @DarrenDev and others give when people post about having issues with the service. It gave me confidence to order EE TV knowing that if I have issues I can get help easily. You wont get that from Sky.

Hey there @jonathanteague 😊
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and let us know about how you've been getting on with EE TV!
I'll keep everything crossed that everything goes smoothly with your recordings for all the Brazilian GP coverage this weekend too... who are you backing?
Cheers, Peter
