So as many moved from bt to to ee . Cant complain about the switch is was all ok , no issues there . The issues is the new router . It takes so long for the router ethernet to connect to my desktop when booting up the pc around 30 seconds or so . May not be an issue for some , but i have so many items set to check for update at start up, that i get a a screen full of cant connect to check because of the slow ethernet being active .

I have the smart plus hub i believe  900 mb full fibre . The old bt hub works like a charm , i plugged it back in and instant connection on boot up  an no error messages about checking for updates .

I have  got the package to send to bt  router back, but to be honest i do not want too . They can have there ee router back and i would like to just keep using my bt router. Who can i talk to about this issue ?. Thank you

@lee359 1. Straight PC NIC to EE Smarthub+, from the windows start when screen shows NIC status, then time is approximately  30 seconds before Ethernet is initialised and Cable Nic icon is displayed.

2. Tp-Link 5-Port Gigabit TL-SG105S switch inserted between PC and EE router power always applied on switch. Power on of PC from Windows start as before, then the time is now 00 Seconds. The PC is always powered so ready to go, see nic port of/on but by time screen is up icon is already showing nic connected.

@lee359  if you talk to BT or EE customer services you should be able to get to the right team to be able to keep the BT Router.

@lee359 - understand that the old hub continues to work OK but have you tried a different Ethernet cable? Doubt it will help but worth a shot?

Also wonder if tinkering with some of your Windows Ethernet adapter properties might help e.g. try changing the negotiation from 'Auto' to 1Gbps and see if that improves things?

@bobpullen You can try all the advanced properties for any NIC that is Ethernet connected, if you ever find one that works or someone does then post it up, The default for the EE Smarthub+ from windows boot, to the Ethernet/NIC ready is around 20seconds, NO MATTER WHAT! Wireless does seem to be lot quicker, just harder to define.

thank you for the reply, yes that was the first thing i did just out of doing something really, nothing changes , i have also reset adaptors in windows , I just feel its an issue with router , and in a way not a real issue , just the way it works that i don't really like with how i have things set up my end . Thank you for reply

Thank you for the reply, yes i will call them after the festive period. Thank you 🙂

Ah, I see. Thought this was an isolated report but assume you've seen this yourself, or seen other threads complaining about similar?

I can see how it could be annoying. I've a whole bunch of things connected via wire but they all go through switches which might explain why I've never seen it.

@bobpullen Been like this from day one on the EE Smarthub+, no issues connecting to the Asus router nic interface, just set up a new Geekom GT13-Pro and would you believe just the exact same, can sit watch until port connects, does not matter were you plug it into on the router, they are all the same. Once connected it is not an issue!

@lee359 I first applied the EE Smarthub+ as the primary router back in March this year, it has went through 3 FW updates so far, and think that there is an impeding one out there just now, and in ALL of the updates, the NIC's all take 20 seconds port negotiation to live, so it is up to you, the router is just not fully tweaked by EE FW bods as yet, and may never be!
