EETV apps freezing

Various apps, such as GB News, ITVX, Channel 5 all randomly freeze.

Think the EETV box shows apps via YouView.

i’ve rebooted TV box, router and all software and apps are up to date.

I’m on fibre 900 with EE router

anyone had the same issue and resolved?

cheers in advance

Hi

whats the app freezing issue?

is it a YouView application issue?

@PolyAnn

If it was an app issue, there would be many more reports of it.

The reports about GBNews are frequent enough that these might constitute a threshold, especially if no other apps misbehave; though the remedy is to contact the app provider, as neither EETV nor YouView actually write these apps, and it’s up to the app provider to get it working on EETV and keep it so (even if EETV actually break something and stop it working).

Reports like yours, where several, or all, apps stop working on a box you have are more likely to be down to hardware or software issues with the box, especially when the issues are confined to one box, and not all your EETV boxes.

Such issues across several EETV boxes speak of a more general problem in the home, in the exchange, or at EETV, either of hardware or of configuration.

The above will be the very broadbrush strategy of how to address issues in the first instance, based on how they present themselves.

Hi

thanks.

ill monitor dates, times, which app and which box going forward over the next few weeks.

ill present the results to EE via the customer team.

thanks for the information.

I only received my ee box on Friday and I have already experienced numerous adverts freezing on itvx. Not had chance to explore much else yet. I am on 900 fibre and this was also new on Friday so I assume that all my equipment would be up to date

Hi

I checked for software/firmware updates first. That didn’t resolve the issue.

I logged a fault and EE sent out another main box.

that worked for a while however some channels still freeze.

ITVx random, GB News (some say that’s not a bad thing) freezes 2 or 3times a night along with Netflix showing error codes.

guess I have to put up with it..!! I gave up…

I would log a fault and see if it follows the same pattern

Hi @Mccafferysj  which EE box are you using  the Apple TV or the Box Pro  ?

Hello

It is a box pro.

Sent from my iPad

Hi @Angie0904 @Mccafferysj @PolyAnn

We are investigating issues with the GB News app on our TV boxes freezing whilst watching live content.

We've seen this ourselves whilst testing and will be working to get it fixed.

We're really sorry for the inconvenience, we haven't been able to confirm a way of stopping it from freezing unfortunately, so as annoying as it is, if the video freezes, press BACK on the remote and resume the stream again.

We will post updates on progress here.

My colleagues call me Dazzler

Thanks Darren, at least the issue is visible and can start to understand how to effect a solution.

cheers

For GB news  on the Box Pro there is the alternative  of using the YouTube app and watching the GBNews channel there.

ITV X app on Box Pro lacks a few features and content available  on other devices so it is always useful to have an alternative  device to view it on.
