EE apple TV box remote issues

I have had my EE apple TV for a year now and the last couple of days the remote is running out of battery, but the batteries are not dead because if I change the batteries to another remote, they still work.

I have tried a couple of fixes suggested online to reset the remote but these do not work.

When I put in different batteries that work when I switch to another remote they last a day and then I have the same experience.

Is the EE supplied remote now becoming faulty?

@DarrenDev apologies for the delay in my response.

Yes I received the remote and can return the old one.

Many thanks for your help.

@DarrenDev I just turned my EE apple TV box on after a day or so and the new remote control also stopped with the supplied batteries (only a week old).

I put in some old batteries and it's working now.

Do you think the issue could be with the box?

Hi @DSkeelo

If your remote control is showing as having a low battery, could you try adding some new batteries please?

Chris S

I have done that repeatedly, almost daily for the last 2 weeks

Best wishes

@DSkeelo can you please check the Apple TV settings screen:

On your Apple TV, if you go to Settings then Remotes and Devices does it say that the battery is below 20% there?

Check this straight after inserting new batteries to confirm it shows 100%, and then verify when you next see the low battery warning.

I changed the batteries. It was 100%. Approx 6 hrs later, without using the telly, it was down to 60%.

Kind Regards

Assuming there was nothing sat on the remote pressing the buttons, I recommend you press all the buttons on the remote once, to make sure they're not stuck.  If the battery still declines fast, give the helpdesk a call to get a replacement.

None of them are stuck. Now at 20%

Kind Regards
