EE TV Prime video app

I had moved from BT to EE, kept my BT TV Pro and added the EE mini TV multiroom box. 

On the EE mini TV multiroom box all the FAST channels on the prime video app are there and working but they are not on my BT TV Pro that has had its software updated to reflect the new EE TV change.

Why are the apps different between the boxes and will the app on the BT TV Pro be updated? Thanks

Hi @Weerab2024 you can manually check to see if there are any app updates available from the Pro box settings.

 

  • Settings > Software Information > Update players and apps

Thanks for bringing this to our attention - we weren't aware of this difference.

We fired off the question to YouView last night, and they've confirmed that there is a difference in the way that the app is delivered on the TV Box Mini vs TV Box Pro.  The Mini has the latest version of the app, and has access to all features.  The Pro has a slightly older version of the app and cannot upgrade at the moment due to the core drivers on the box being a bit older.

We'll try to find out whether Amazon are able to deliver their FAST channels without needing this driver update - it may just be that they've targeted newer devices first.

Alongside that, we've also added a task to investigate whether we can update the core drivers,  so that they can remain in step in future.  This isn't a small task so I can't promise it will happen, and I can't get any timescales on when we'll know an answer.

Do we have any update from the EE team as to what resolution  Youview/EETV/Amazon are pursuing to deliver an upto date Prime Video app to the Box Pro please ?

As its been 11 months after my original post, I don't hold up much hope on how the pro box would cope with the impending new now app.
