EE TV Box Pro VS Apple 4K Box

HI

I am soon going to take up EE Broadband with EE TV

I am aware I can choose either the EE TV Box Pro OR the Apple 4K Box. I have watched some YouTube videos on them both to try and give me the best understanding, I am still undecided on which to choose though. Can anybody please help me distuingish the differences?

I know the main difference is that you can record on the EE TV Box Pro but you cannot record on the Apple 4K Box, If I decide recording is not so important to me, what other factors are there?

Which box is the most powerful hardware that will give me best performance switching through apps etc, best viewing / sound quality and least problems etc etc

Please go all out on the differences, pros and cons of both

Thank you

Yes, that’s what Sky announced, with Sky Stream.

And it’s been the de facto rule with Now that, except for the discounted multi-month offers, you cancel, and your Now membership runs on for a maximum of 31 days, most often less, until the next renewal date.

But where has Sky stated this, about Sky Stream?

All I can find is this: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/charges-for-ending-your-sky-contract-early

@DStructUK

That leads to this:-

It’s a bit convoluted, but if you tease it out, you will see you can have a Sky Premium Rolling Pack with no minimum term, and you will already have bought, and own, the Puck or Sky Glass TV (even if you are paying for that under a separate loan arrangement with Sky which will of course continue).

And you can cease the Rolling Service at 31 day’s notice.

If you switch to a Sky Premium Contract Pack, then the 18 months or two years minimum term kicks in, so the thing is not to do that.

I guess we must all familiarise ourselves with this document, should we wish to move away from EETV’s current offerings at the end of their minimum term 😛

From everything you have just said, all I know is that my Sky Puck is on loan and I have to return it. I have no idea about Premium Pack. My contract/minimum term/offers were ending on March 6th, which is 5 months away. Assuming mine was 18 months, I can only guess I signed up 13 months ago if that time frame helps with anything.

I joined on an offer, a cheap offer (So probably wasnt rolling monthly, I think it was fixed for 18 months - Like 18 months contract?) On Sky TV with Netflix, Cinema, UHD / Atmos

I’ve already said, you need to go to AV Forums and look at any of the Sky Stream threads where you will read all about it and hear from people that have just rung up and done it.

Sky are not going to proactively tell you that you can leave with 31 days notice when you think you have signed up to an 18 month contract.

I’m not going round in circles on this, do your own research, all the information is there.

Got it, sorry. Will head there now, thank you

Still undecided on the box too 🤣

@DStructUK

I hate documents you can’t cut and paste from, but screenshot is my friend 😛

From the document I referenced (first sentence following Your Sky Stream Puck):-

So I think you own it, if you gave them any money for it (and maybe even if you didn’t)

And yes, it looks like you took out the Sky Premium Contract Pack, if you had a minimum term of 18 months, as also covered in the document.

But you didn’t have to, you could have just rolled along from month to month.

However, I’m sure Sky gave you a nice discount for agreeing to the minimum term, and if you stick to that, or even if you quit a little short, you may still be quids in.

I found this:-

https://www.avforums.com/threads/sky-stream.2506510/
(teeveedee, fourth post down)

It is unsupported by any evidence, or references, and I cannot find any similar claims, except by the same author.

But if you can give any other relevant links into AV Forums, I should be very grateful.

And I have found this:-

https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Stream/Early-termination-fee/td-p/4773902

which I am more inclined to take as accurate, as the poster has manifestly done some research into this.

Sky may very well be letting people off early termination penalties, but I don’t think it’s because of any rule or regulation that says they have to.

When using TV Guide on the EE TV app on Apple Box, say you select a programme/channel that is on live now, does the programme instantly just play like it would on a normal freeview TV guide, the same as Sky TV Guide and EE TV Pro Box.....

OR is it like the Fire Stick TV Guide and the Apple TV Launcher, where it launches the specific channels app first

As per my response on the other thread @DStructUK - it plays then instantly in the EE TV app. You can also use the channel up/down navigation, or go directly to a channel by entering the number.
