Aerial v Internet mode

Hi, I have just changed from bt to ee with a new ee TV box. I have used Internet mode and now receive itv2, 3 & 4 in HD amongst a couple of others. If I retune using aerial mode to be able to fast forward ads, does anyone know if I will lose the extra itv HD channels. These channels were not avaliable to me on my bt box and I don't receive them on free view. (N. Ireland). Also I am unable to pair the ee app to my BT hub (ee said I didn't need to change hub) but from what I have read, this seems to be a common problem with no solution? Is this still the case

Thanks

@skippyat27

In aerial mode, you should still have those channels, but yes they would go back to the SD broadcast version.

However, if you don’t get them over an aerial normally, you would lose them completely.

Are you on what they call a Freeview Lite transmitter in NI (restricted range of channels, because it’s a relay transmitter)?  Look it up on the Freeview site, or let us know what it’s called.

By EE app, do you mean the EETV app? You don’t pair that with your hub (router), you pair it with the Box Pro. It can be a bit of a balky process, but get right up close to the box and try again.

*Longtime YouView box owner & broadband customer (was BT now EE), but only recently a full EETV subscriber*

Thanks for your reply and info. N.ireland does transmit ITV2,3 & 4 on Freeview but only in SD and are quite poor quality, so I will keep the box on internet mode and suffer the ads 😭. The app I was referring to is the standard EE app for billing etc, and asks to to pair the app with your hub for WiFi controls. You can scan for the hub or enter it manually via the qr code on hub but neither option pairs. Ee have told me that it will pair with the BT hub I have and don't need an EE one as they are the same.

In a lot of forums the not pairing seems very common but no solutions

Thanks

Hi there @skippyat27

Thanks for coming to the community.

For the app pairing problem you are experiencing, do you get an error message when you try and pair the hub in the app?

Which router are you using?

Leanne 🙂

Hi Leanne, I'm using a BT smart hub 2 along with an android version of the EE app. I have tried scanning and also scanning the hubs qr code but the app doesn't find the hub

Thanks for coming back to me @skippyat27

Have you tried fully resetting your hub and then deleting and reinstalling the app?

Leanne.

Hi Leanne,

Yes I have performed a full reset on my BT hub and uninstalled the EE app and then reinstalled it.

I have reinstalled the My BT app and this seems to be the only way to gain access to my WiFi options like to see what is connected etc.

The app obviously no longer shows any billing details as I no longer have a BT service but it will give me access to the WiFi service
