I have seen the question / query on here already but was wondering if there is any update to when EE will offer their 1.6 Gbps with TV. I have read an article that the delay for EE might be because they have a new WiFi 7 router coming and this might be linked to the delay in being able to get 1.6 with TV.
I am due to renew my BT contract next month and have been shopping around but am leaning towards the EE 1.6 Service. But without TV I am then looking to sign up for a TV only service with another provider. If EE TV is coming in the future I dont want to do that as then I am locked in on that contract.
I assume that if I moved to EE 900 Mbps I would be able to upgrade to 1.6 Gbps- when TV is available with this. But would this incur any one off costs for me (Not monthly contract price change) / give me the new router if available?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Correct. The agent shouldn't have said that - it couldn't be much further from the truth.

Hi Darren, has there been any update recently on being able to add EE TV to 1.6gbps BB service?

No recent updates to set expectations I'm afraid.

Actually at the moment the 1.6gb broadband is cheaper than the 900mb, that’s widely available, as i haven’t seen any new prices for it, and the last ad i saw for the 1.6gb it was £69.99, which undercut my BT price by nearly £40. And set me on the rocky road to switching to EE for the same price & speed as my old broadband service.

What a ridiculous situation!
This still seems to be an issue. I got all excited when I spotted the cost of 1.6gbps premium broadband - and then realised I can't order due to having EETV.
Any updates?

@parnellx it's not because you have rv, 1.6 is not available to existing broadband customers!

@parnellx in a recent thread
there was an explanation of the situation as it exists currently (11 Feb 2026 post)

I think EE should remove the 1.6Gb broadband option until ALL the problems are fixed, so that:
No.1 the price reflects the speed you're getting in relation to it's 900Mb's, so that new customers on the 1.6Gb DON'T pay a lower price than those on the 900Mb's Standard broadband.
No.2 you can switchover to the 1.6Gb with TV, without going through the rig moral of cancelling you're current broadband package and start again as a new customer, and paying exit fees for the priviledge.

@robh661 I assume you'd also be happy if we dropped your broadband speed down to 0.5Mbps, as there are people in the UK who cannot get faster than that?
