Hi, I believe someone is going to attempt to sim swap me as I have given an untrusted number a security code. Does anyone know who I can get in touch with to help me? Someone on the phone preferably as the chat guides don’t know what to do

@ruby1878 That number does belong to one of our partner companies Interact as detailed on our page here Numbers EE partners will call from | Profile Help | EE
So if that is the number you were called from it has not been a scam in this case but has been a legitimate sales call so no need to worry about a scam. In the future if ever in doubt though always just end the call and then call us on 150 before confirming any PIN. As with a PIN a scammer can potentially access your account.
You can opt out of marketing calls with us as well by asking to update your marketing preferences to opt out when calling us on 150.

Can you explain more, what you mean by "given an untrusted number a security code"?
Have you received a text message with a password/PIN (known as an OTP) and someone has asked you for the details? If so... who was the text message from? To what company or organisation did it relate? And to whom did you give the details?

Sorry for my vague post.. every post has been marked as spam. The untrusted number came up as ‘EE’ it is very similar to the 01942 numbers on the trusted numbers list, but this particular number isn’t .. they sent a code through to my phone, this code came from EE. So yes I received an OTP, which came through whilst I was on the phone to the man claiming to be from EE.

I should explain better, apologies
I had a phone call from a man claiming to be from EE - it came up as EE on my phone above the number
The man sent a code to my phone, the code came from EE and I gave him it.
I then received a text from EE thanking me for passing security to access my account.
I have read that this is how scammers perform sim swap scams and now I am worried that the scammer has access to my EE account

Whomever you gave that PIN to, you have to assume now has access to your EE account. Your phone's call log should show the number this call came from, and it may be useful to confirm what it was - it sounds like "business caller ID" might have been used here, if you didn't have the number saved.
I would recommend you contact EE-CS on 150 ASAP and advise them of this. They have access to your account and can advise further.

Hi @ruby1878,
Welcome to the EE Community
I am really sorry to hear about the recent call you had, I can definitely understand being worried, as @bristolian mentioned please give us a call on 150 as soon as you can as giving someone a PIN has potentially given them access to your account. Our team on 150 will be able to have a check for you and make sure your account is secure moving forward.

Thank you, I have been in contact with CS but they keep advising me to change my password. I have done that but I am still worried the scammers will be able to take over my sim if they have access to my account. I have asked them to check if 01942 901392 is a legitimate EE number and they’ve said they can’t check. I don’t know if I’m being overly cautious but I don’t know what else I can do to stop them from taking over my phone. I have looked online and can’t seem to find anything about this scam, where he asked me if I had protection for my phone and then offered me EE’s protection/insurance. So I’m not sure if this is even a scam ? I am really struggling to decide what to do here, I’d rather be safe but I cannot for the life of me get any help from EE

A Google search for 01942 901392 is not encouraging. If you don't have the number saved as a contact, the logical assumption is that "business caller-ID" is the reason for "EE" being shown as a caller.

Every time CS are contacted with regards to your account, they will request security details - this can include passwords & OTP. If your password has been changed, and you keep OTP to yourself in future, you should be OK.
