I just had a call from 01575 612304. This was in relation to another post on this forum regarding a PlusNet / EE deal for a sim only £6/month contract. I had got an email from someone saying they needed my mobile number to put me in contact with EE customer services.
This seemed innocent, so I emailed back with my number, hopeful that someone at EE would contact me to sort out the same or similar deal.
The guy I spoke to confirmed my problem, and then (based on the email I received) appeared to trigger a password reset.
He said "to me the pin code, so I can put your account on hold while we fix the issue".
I challenged this as it looked like a plain password reset email and not a "confirm its you" confirmation, obviously, I would not expect EE to operate a process like this just to look into a billing/new deal question.
He even said he could send a "pin code" to my mobile. But I pointed out he had my email and mobile number, so neither are secure.
I then politely hung up.
Can EE confirm this was a scam call please?
