had calls from all these numbers today saying they’re from EE and offering a 40% discount promotion, when they asked how much my last bill was, and since they were all Indian voices, I hung up; assuming it was fraud.  When I searched the numbers through my HIYA security app, they were all landlines apparently from cafes! I’ve blocked all the numbers, but there’s obviously a big scam doing the rounds! They must have hijacked some dormant landline numbers I’d think.

I had similar Calls.  Sounded very dodgy. I callled him out on a scam, and he ended the Calll.  Thanks to EE (genuine) confirming this was a Scam.  What is the scammers purpose in this type of scam?

Just received a  similar call from "Kevin" , number 07393359426, telling me that EE has decided to give me a 40% discount. There was a lot of background noise, like if he was calling from a public place. It sounded very dubious and I stopped the call without engaging with him.

I had the same call, they have sent me a security code from -EE- via message during the call which I repeated it back to them, then they asked me to spell my name over and over again so I disconnected the call as they weren’t able to provide me with my question of the amount on the last bill. Do I need to be concerned as they know my name and I told them the passcode from the message? I changed my password to the account and a passkey on app.

The number they called from was 01273 360267

@AnnaAsp I would suggest you call EE and check that no unauthorised access has been made now you've given out some info to a scammer.

If cold called, never give out info, just hang up.

Welcome to the Community, @AnnaAsp

Like @chistery mentioned, as you provided a passcode to your account, your first priority should definitely be to give our team a call so we can make sure there hasn't been any unauthorised activity on your account.

Once you're confident things are safe, I'd recommend reporting the call via our form here:

Report a scam call | BT Help

We also have a help page with more details on how to recognise these scams here, too:

Hi Pete,

Could you give me a number to call as the link isn’t working, the website opens blank with “blocked” message

Many thanks,

That seems very odd, @AnnaAsp

I've just given it a test myself and it's all good for me.

It's worth giving this a test in a different browser just to rule that out as an issue, but just in case to give us a call you can ring 150 direct from an EE mobile, or 07953 966 150 if you're calling from another provider.

Peter 😊

I've already shared my experience in another thread. I'm hoping this will benefit others so I'll just copy and paste my experience with the same call:

They are still at it, and I got fully roped in.

I'm normally quite savvy to these calls, but the emails and whatsapp communications from them appeared legit.

They also passed a few tests such as guessing my monthly payment. I deliberately gave them a fake amount, and they seemed to know I was lying (Or maybe they just misunderstood me).

I pressed them for their locations, they gave me a legit postcode that lined with BT office (One Braham Street, London E1 8EE)

Employee id: 60023JS

Employee name: John Sam (I believe this a generic name they pass around)

They insisted on ALL me bank details to "set up my profile" for my new account to apply my "discount". Alarm bells rang because I've never had to give up my sortcode, account number, card number AND signature number. Embarrassed to say, I went along with it, however I recorded the call, because I was still unsure. They even gave me the fake delivery tracking number for my samsung watch they were sending me as a gift.

After the call, EE fraud detection rang me around an hour later and explained that a phone had been ordered on behalf of a "Hamza", NOT me. They were already trying to buy things on my profile!

EE cancelled that request. reset my profile. I immediately cancelled my bank card.

Lesson learned. BIG thanks to EE's fraud detectors for responding swiftly.
