Today I received a call on purportedly 020 4538 9426 from purportedly John purportedly from EE. He asked how I was today and if I wanted a 30 percent discount. The man was speaking with a South Asian accent in what sounded like a call centre.
He asked me to tell him how much I was paying each month so that I could identify myself. I declined and as he was working for EE asked him to tell me how much I was paying. He said that he needed to know to take me through security.
I declined again and he rang off.
I subsequently called 150 and reported this incident to EE. The guy I spoke to confirmed that EE had not contacted me today and that the call was a scam.
I am publishing this to the community so that other are aware of this scam.

I also just got same call today 17/01/2024, I told them to put offers in the post and lady pressed me for my email address, I said if you are who you say you are then you would know my email address and I hung up.

As a further update: I have received similar calls twice more from different numbers, and both times it was the same lady with the Indian accent. The second time I had just started to say that I'd already received this scam before she hung up.
Stay safe out there everyone.

Hi, just had the same call offering me a 30% discount. I hung up. Yes, EE looks like you have had a data breach.

Very polite, wanted my name, email address and cost of my bills.
My Account is PW protected. He was unable to see that and couldn't provide the authority.

Just received the same call as @ANPARKER right now. Thankful y I got suspicious googled and found this page.
The call came from a different number 020 3340 1155 and the offer was for 30% discount and the caller was a female which accent sounded like India.
@EE, before I realised it was a scam, I gave them my email address and they sent me an email with some links and a separate email with some passcode!!
I hung up right after.
@EE, How are these scammers getting our contact number as our numbers are ex-directory.
Has there been a data breach at EE?

Hey there
Same thing just happened to me 02080893148. 30% discount on my EE bill.
Asked me how much I paid monthly, male voice, Asian accent. I did tell him ( as I was distracted at work/ not concentrating) then put me through to his supervisor.
Female, Asian accent ( I'm Asian myself, same accent as my family members). She asked me what my email address was.
I gave her the wrong email address. I hung up.
