Today I received a call on purportedly 020 4538 9426 from purportedly John purportedly from EE. He asked how I was today and if I wanted a 30 percent discount. The man was speaking with a South Asian accent in what sounded like a call centre.
He asked me to tell him how much I was paying each month so that I could identify myself. I declined and as he was working for EE asked him to tell me how much I was paying. He said that he needed to know to take me through security.
I declined again and he rang off.
I subsequently called 150 and reported this incident to EE. The guy I spoke to confirmed that EE had not contacted me today and that the call was a scam.
I am publishing this to the community so that other are aware of this scam.

I just had a similar call from 01135191175. She said she had a Xmas promotional offer but called me Sir instead of madam. I said you should know my details if you are EE. She said the info is encrypted. She then asked me for my last bill amount and my full name so she could add me to the promotion. She said my next bill will be £30 and I would get unlimited data (which I already have) and 1000 International call minutes. I declined and hung up on the basis that she should have had basic details about my contract already if she was legitimate. She said she was from marketing team not billing retail so didn't have this info. Definitely a scam

Hi @Nash35,
Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂
That wasn't a genuine call from EE or one of our direct partners.

I have received this phone call just now. Offering me 30% discount on my bill until the end of contract plus a free ipad. Apparently the scammers are claiming they are from EE.

I've had 3 of these calls. Today it was 30%, yesterday it was 40%. Not EE.

Received a similar call today, 30/12/2023 from 02081446584, woman with an Indian accent.
She offered me 30% discount on my bill, a free Samsung tablet as a Christmas present, and was very smart not to ask any details except for me to confirm my email address. I have a "quaratine" email address that I use for one-time nonsense and suspected scams, and I received a password reset code from ee for that email, I immediately blocked and reported the number to 7726.
This is the second scam in 2 days, another unrelated scam that was tried on my wife was a notification from Facebook that her account was being deleted for hate speech, and to click a link to contest this. She clicked the link (I know, bad idea) and was taken to a very official looking Facebook messenger page, where someone asked her to just enter her Facebook password to verify her identity, which is when the alarm bells started ringing and she immediately stopped.
Reason for sharing is to remind everyone: NEVER give out personal information to an unverified person over the phone, and basically never click on any suspicious links, especially ones that need you to do something "urgent" - that's how they get you.

I was called by a Nottingham number +44 1156477230 and the same course of events occurred - the call terminated when I pointed out that they should know my name not just my number. I tried to text the number to the community support team but couldn’t get it to work.

@Ski1 you text CALL to 7726 then when prompted text the number of this caller.

Hi,
I’m not an EE customer but I just received the same scam offering 30% off my EE bill and a gift basket (choice of iPad/iphone/something else).
They called from 020 3984 7410 saying it was EE Promotions Department. I strung them on for a bit, and gave fake emails and security codes then hung up. They tried phoning back but I. Blocked the number.
