Said they were from EE, Indian accent, they sent me an email from ‘EE Discount’ ee@limitedpromotions.co.uk which was identical to EE’s emails so I almost fell for it, they managed to access my EE account and it wasn’t until they asked for my card details I thought twice and my brain kicked in realising it was a scam so hung up called EE direct and changed my log in details. I was kicking myself after for being so stupid!

This just happened to me too. They asked me for the first and third digit of my password but I just happened to forget it and they said they'd initiate a reset so I received an email with the reset code which I stupidly gave them. But I had 2-factor authentication set up and realised what I was doing when they asked for the 6-digit passcode. I called EE and it seems like they didn't actually get into my account and I'm safe ? I sure hope so. Getting very paranoid.

The email was from the same email address as the OP. My anti-spam didn't catch it. Valid domain, valid certificate chain, valid encryption. Even marked as "potentially important" by my email client triage. This was so weird.

Hi there @Hapillon

Thanks for posting and making us aware you have received a spam call.

To be safe, you can change the password in your EE account, and the one we have registered for you by calling 150 if this was provided when on the call.

You can find advice for staying safe and reporting scam calls, texts and emails in our Avoid Scams | Security Help page.

Thanks 🙂

Leanne.

I could have written this myself…, I could hear my husband on the phone giving over his bank details for the deposit… when it got to sort code I googled the phone number and it came up as scam .., too late details passed over.., got him to hang up and rung Ee directly who said no calls from their end… in the mean time I was on the bank app cancelling the card and talking to them. We are very savvy people but even we were almost caught out…. The emails were SO convincing except the ‘limited promotions’ made me doubt it and then all made sense!

Hi @Emma474

I'm really sorry this has happened and appreciate you coming to the community to make others aware of the scam call. You've done the right thing contacting the bank and EE to let them know information was given on the call.

As details were provided to the scammer, please change any passwords that may use the same email and password details to be on the safe side. Our Avoid Scams page has more details on staying safe and reporting any scam texts, calls and emails.

Thanks.

Leanne.

I had the same experience but didn't fall into the trap. i had a call from the same people but what is scary is that everytime they call me, its usually a different number, different people. the only thing that made me feel its a scam was the urgency in the delivery of the Samsung Tablet they keep mentioning and the authorisation of 56 pounds to be place on hold on my account and this will be refunded once they have delivered the tablet within 24 hours. They even offer me 60% discount on my current contract and what made my situation different is that i have 4 mobile numbers on my contract so any discount will make it tempting.

I eventually tell them that i would rather call EE to confirm these offers, even though they email, full name, address and all my  contract details with EE. I finally ranged EE and they confirmed that it was indeed a SCAM.

Here is the full email

Hi @Gunshot

Welcome to the community.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been contacted by someone purporting to be EE. I recommend filling in the scam report form that @XRaySpeX posted in the solution of this thread. A security team will then look into it further.

For you, or anyone else reading this, there is a 'how to avoid scams' help page on our website.

Thanks for reporting this.
