I had an 18 month contract with a firm that provided me with a phone for work and also personnal use, due to this i did not use my own phone and now cannot recieve SMS messages to activate some websites as they send anSMS message to the phone (ebay, bank etc) how can i tell if my number has been re-asigned to someone else. I still recieve whatsapp calls and text's using my old phone but nothing else - It was a PAYG phone. Appologies if  this is the wrong place to ask.

@jefflb : The firm you were with owned that no. & may have reassigned it or even cancelled it. It's certainly not yours any longer.

WhatsApp is just an internet app and does not route "calls" or "texts" in the same way as mobile networks do. All a mobile network sees with WA, is data usage.

WhatsApp just uses the mobile number as a login means, instead of a username.
