Transfer of number from BT

DannyDonovan

I was persuaded to leave BT after many years and move to EE. I was assured that my old phone number would be transferred automatically since the transfer was "in house", but I am still waiting.
I thought BT were bad, but have I made a big mistake?

How do I call them? There is no point ringing 150.
I was assured it would happen within one working day i.e. yesterday.

If you call 150 from the EE phone and select option 2 then account queries, the team will check this for you @DannyDonovan

Leanne.

@DannyDonovan , EE do answer calls, but they may be busy with other callers, just try at a different time, there is nothing that can be done in the forum.

You may want to try this number, but not sure it will be any quicker:

08000798586.

When you ring, are you making sure that you are pressing the one for mobile and then accounts?

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

@DannyDonovan - If the PAC code was added to your order then when you activated your new sim, it should have triggered the port.

Number ports take one working day meaning if you activated the new EE sim today, the number should transfer tomorrow.

It should have been made clear on your sales call as to how things work but the good news is, if the number hasn't been ported yet, it'll still be live on your BT Mobile sim meaning you won't miss calls.

Hope this sorts itself out quickly 👍

The new sim was activated around noon on Sunday and is still on its own
number.
I have had no calls or messages on my number since then. BT assure me that
they gave EE the PAC number xxxxxxxxx - what is happening please?

Hi @DannyDonovan

If you activated the sim on Sunday then I would have expected the number to have ported today.

Is the number still live and working on BT Mobile ?

Remember this is a peer-to-peer forum so suggestions from most users are just what we've done to resolve issues like this in the past.

My only other suggestion is to submit the details again via this form (link at step 4)

It'll ask you for your EE number (so the temporary one that's on the new sim), validate you with a text and then ask for your PAC code (that you've shared above) and the number you're wanting to keep (your BT Mobile number).

If you do that and it works, then do it before 17:00 today and the number should move tomorrow (if this works then it means the agent who sold you the sim didn't port your number).

If you get errors on the form, it means it's in progress which means it may be a call to 150 to get an update as to what's going on.

It does sound like a pain but hope you're sorted very soon

Thanks, I'll try what you suggest.
If I call my number from my landlene, I just get a message to say that the
caller has hung up. Does that make any sense?

If it's not just live and ringing on BT Mobile then that makes me think it's in progress but might be a bit stuck.

The good thing is, EE as the gaining provider are responsible for getting this sorted out for you and they have teams in place who deal with number ports. So I'd definitely give them a call, tell them you're having issues, let them take a look and if they need to, they'll get it across to their number port team to sort out for you.

It sounds like an absolute pain, the good thing though that they'll get it sorted for you.

Just to share my own story, I had a similar issue last week. I left my old job last year and ported my work mobile number (as I wanted to keep it) onto pay as you go with Vodafone.

All fine, numbers parked on a pay as you go sim and I spend the next couple of months enjoying not working and taking holidays.

Now re-joined the world of work, got my new company mobile (my company use O2) and I shared the pac to port said number from VF payg onto this O2 contract.

First part of the port went fine, Vodafone sim went dead. However number just appeared as "out of service" when you called it. I had patience, left it a couple of days. Then thought uh oh (as it still was a dead number) and got my company to contact O2. Their porting team had everything fixed and working as it should a few hours later.

Just in case you're wondering why I'm very much of the mindset of it'll get sorted.

Do hope they get this fixed quickly.

Why do I have to do all the work and who can I speak to about making this
happen now?
It is quite rediculous that I have to chase up your mistakes. Have you seen
my other message that advises EE doesn't accept the BT PAC number?
For goodness sake, what is going on there? I need to speak to somebody in a
senior position.
Please give me some contact details
