Transfer from BT to EE Confusing

Whilst I could have moved to a different provider decided to move to EE from BT, as all BT upgrades/plan amendments are, because EE has a good signal where I am BUT very confusing in getting the transfer arranged and porting across my old number. Never had it this bad before and I've had my number for years with various providers. Looking on this forum I see numerous similar complaints. EE doesn't seem to recognise the PAC number provided by BT so that's the first issue whilst I'm also concerned at the length of time being reported for the transfer to happen. It should be near enough instant in this day and age especially when we are so reliant on our phones for personal and business use. Having to use a 'temporary' number for up to 48 hours or god knows how long just doesn't cut it. First impressions of EE very poor.

@philtfa  if the online form doesn’t recognise you pac code you can call customer services and give it to them and they’ll do this for you,  it takes 24 hours to port a number it’s not instant as a number is ported in stages.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

@philtfa    if you follow standard porting advice then your transfer should be the same as any other move. However, the process is quite complicated, more to it than you make out, and for sure not instant.

So, ports don't happen at the weekend, so avoid trying on a Friday as it will delay things if for example you are late or if there are complications. Avoid Mondays as it is often used to clear up complications from the weekend.

Apply at a time so that your port has plenty of time to get done on the day you want.

Keep using the old service until it stops before using your new sim, if in the same phone. Give it time for the move.

Don't arrange a port on a day when you know you are going to be busy using your phone.

Don't give your PAC code to your new provider before you have your new Sim.

Most of the issues you read about are due to people not following these simple rules.
