Hi Katie, i have a similar problem. I've had a pay as you go card for about 4 years now, i travel to the UK from South Africa and normally load some credit for airtime and data prior so that when I land I just switch to my EE sim, my number is also linked to my UK banking accounts.
Now its saying its been deactivated.
Can it be re activated ? *********

Hello @WilkoSA ,
Welcome to the community,
If you have not used your SIM card to make a chargeable call or text for six months or more, then the SIM card has been lost for ever. Take a look here about hibernation:

Hi there @WilkoSA
Thanks for coming to the community.
When was the last time the SIM was used to make a call, send or text or the account topped up?
Speak soon 🙂
Leanne.

Oct 2023, when i came back to SA, but I've never had this before with EE, I've been back and forth.
Can we not get it re activated? its linked to my banking so who knows whos getting the sms?
If not this is a major issue landing at Heathrow and straight to a hire car with no comms in April.
If id have known i would have switched it on every 4 months and made a 10 sec call.

@WilkoSA , that is way too long and someone else will have the number, as you have not used it and it will have been cancelled, and long gone to someone else. We are 2025 and you would have lost it due to non use in 2024. This has always been so, sorry. Numbers are always recycled on pay as you go after non use as per hibernation rules, which you should have known.
