No way to transfer esim to new iPhone

when you transfer you old iPhone to a new one, it doesn’t transfer your esim because Ee don’t support this basic function.

googling how to do this manually, the only suggestion is to pay to download a replacement esim from the re app.  However this does now work as you get the error “data plan for ee is already added to phone”.  In Apple settings there is no option to delete an existing data plan

so there you have it.  If you get an ee esim, you can never upgrade your iPhone,

Now I’m stuck.  I can’t use a normal sim as my card slot is taken.

what are the options?

1 Sell the new phone.

2 erase the new phone, don’t use apples standard transfer process, manually install and configure everything (this is not sn option) then download the "replacement" esim from the ee app.

3 switch to a new carrier.

does vodaphone or o2 offer esim transfer?

Hi @Nutmix

You can transfer the eSIM from within the MyEE app as long as your existing SIM is still active. Just go to replace my SIM and follow the instructions for adding it to a new device.

As I said, when you follow these steps, pay the 50p and try to download the esim, you get the error "data plan for ee is already added to phone”. This is because apple transfer the number to the new phone as part of the apple phone transfer process, but they dont transfer the actual esim as EE dont support this critical feature.

Apple do not give the option to delete the non working data plan.

I have tried every option, and read every article.  there is no solution other than the 3 options given above. This is a warning to not use the ee esim if you have an iphone and want to upgrade in the future.
