Keeping new EE number after pac code transfer

Terminator4

Hi all

I’ve recently switched to an EE sim-only contract from O2. At order check out I entered in my pac code to transfer my old number to the EE sim.
The thing is, I’ve just received my EE sim, and the new number is so awesome that I’d love to keep it. Is it too late? The transfer hasn’t gone through yet but I suspect it will in 24 hours.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just an update.

The lovely Lauren at EE CS was able to sort this out for me. I think I got lucky in that the number had only just ported over this morning. If I had waited any longer it might not have been do-able.

Key takeaway: it’s possible but you need to do it ASAP (within hours of porting).

Thanks

The old number has now ported onto the new sim.

Does this mean I can’t get my new EE number back, or is there a way?

An unusual scenario!

You should contact EE-CS ASAP. They have access to your individual account and may be able to reverse the port-in and release your ported number back to your previous network for disconnection.

It is indeed!

The number that came with the new EE sim is just too good to pass up.

I’ll think of a way to keep my old (O2) number another way, perhaps by changing it to a pay-as-you-go sim with EE or another carrier, if they can reverse port that is.

Now that your "old (O2) number" is your current EE number, it is tied to your current SIM.

Porting-out will result in cancellation charges being applied to your current line, as the two processes (porting & cancelling) are inextricably linked. Changing to an EE line is effectively the same process albeit the "port" is an internal one.

I suspect, given that your "old" number is not old anymore but is current, there is no way to achieve what you want to - you will need to choose between the original number or your ported one. The time to have this conversation was before the port-in was initiated, not after port-in completes.

I should mention that unfortunately I lost my old number. It is what it is.

Hi @Terminator4

Thankyou for the update.

That's great news you got to keep the new EE number too.

Have a great day!
