Lost UK phone in Portugal

I have lost my UK phone in Portugal and the EE help number given just has a Portuguese message on which isn't really helping. Any ideas how I can block my SIM and get a new one issued? Can't believe it's this difficult to reach someone from EE to assist.

What is the EE help number that you've been given? The correct number is +44 7953 966150

A Portugese message suggests that you're either dialling a Portugese number, or the call isn't leaving the Portugese network.
