Hi, I have an old Nokia phone which supports 2G and have bought a '£10 8GB Plus 500 Minutes and Unlimited Texts' SIM card to use with it. The instructions unhelpfull state:
1) Pop the new Sim in you phone
2) Add £10 to your balence
3) make a call or text to activate your pack.
Well, I put the SIM in, and I can see I have signal, and I can receive calls and text, but can't make them. I figured I needed to register for an account on EE, so I did, and was asked to register the device. I entered the phone number, received text message saying 'Hi from EE, your PIN is XXXX', which I then enter into the web form and then get back:
"We’re having trouble linking your products You can try linking again or come back later when we’ve fixed things."
Tried that several times, always receive the PIN, always get the same message.
What am I missing?
Many TIA

You don't need to activate a PAYG SIM when in the UK. Nor do you need it registered to a MyEE a/c.

That's your problem! You need credit to make calls or texts. Try using Fast Top-up online to pay by UK bank card. You don't need to login or register anything. All you need is your mobile no. & it doesn't remember your card details.

Some additional information... No, I haven't yet put any credit on, but then again, how would I do that if the SIM isn't in any way linked to my EE account? No, I don't want to switch numbers or anything. The number that came with the SIM is fine. I'm planning on using this phone as a 'burner' for job searching. Would rather not have recruiters having my actual phone number.
