New sim help!

I purchased a new sim with £20 subscription pack on Weds, this was when money was taken. This arrived yesterday and I set up a new account with EE but this said no credit no data. I tried topping the account up this morning so now it says I have £20 credit but it won’t let me buy a subscription so phone still can’t be used.
am I missing a step here? The phones for my son and I was hoping we would be able to just use the new sim straight away.

Try texting PACK20 to 150.

It just says that I have £20 credit now and it said £0 yesterday before I added the extra £20. So I’ve spent £40 so far and the phone still can’t be used 😞

Hmm now my £20 credit has been used for a subscription pack so what has happened to the first £20 I paid for the sim?! Have EE charged £20 just for a sim?
