Keeping PAYG numbers

We are looking to buy 2 PAYG smartphones and wish to keep our old numbers. One is a smart phone, which I presume I can just swap the sim over but my wife's is an old PAYG on the EE network and will probably need a new sim.

We have been customers of EE for many years and have always been happy with the service but what lets them down is the lack of useful advice on their terrible website. A link to the 'dedicated transfer page' only takes you to a page telling us how marvellous they think they are.

Calls to 150 are charged and I refuse to pay call charges to talk to the sales department of a phone company. Where can I get the relevant information from?

Take new phone & old SIM into an EE shop with Photo ID & they'll transfer number, any SIM contacts & credit if applicable to a replacement SIM of correct size for free or order a replacement SIM online at Order a replacement SIM for £1.50 or phone CS for one. It will come as a Combi-SIM with all 3 sizes as push-outs.

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Thanks, when we went into our local EE shop to enquire about this a few weeks ago, the assistant could not have been less helpful - as PAYG, we obviously don't generate much commission for him.

This information should be readily available on their vague website. At least I can log in, when my wife tries to log in on her account she can't get past the website telling her that her own phone is already registered to someone, it has been registered to her for a number of years 🙂

@studiosoft , I would suggest speaking to EE about this.

Just wondering was she the account holder for her number or were you? I know it is pay as you go, but just wondering, why as a pay as you go it says this.

You can always order a replacement SIM card online or by ringing customer service, it does however seem strange that it says registered to someone else.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

There's no such thing as an a/c holder for PAYG other than as you might consider the owner of the MyEE a/c.
