Until recently, I just rang 150 and I almost immediately got a text telling me how many texts I had left in my allowance. For some days this service hasn't worked! - very inconvenient! I really need this info, and regularly! - anyone know how I can get it? Thanks.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Thanks again. I think the problem is that my weekly contact package seems to have somehow disappeared and I'm being charged for all texts and calls - so I'm ringing them to try to find out what's happened.

I rang the number and it said they'd send me a text with instructions on how to receive a call for tech support - but no text came through. So I tried again - and again no text. No idea how I can sort this problem out. Totally exasperated.

Were you able to speak to someone when you got through, @RichH3?

I didn't get through - the voice said if I waited to speak to an advisor on that call it would be charged at the normal rate for calls, and I just can't afford that, alas. Also don't feel I should be paying through the nose to sort out a problem that's not of my making. I'll try going to the local ee shop in the morning! - maybe they'll be able to sort it.

Well I'm now told that the problem is that I have an old 3G Nokia, and the weekly contract I used to have is being closed down - so I need to buy a 4G phone - that's what the people in the ee/BT shop told me, anyway! Does that sound right?

That's right @RichH3
Please see We’re Switching Off Our 3G Network (ee.co.uk) for more information on how to switch to a 4G plan and phone.
Hope this helps.
