Hello Some info about PAYGo Sims please

Hello, I am thinking of joining EE. I ready have a PAYG sim not yet activated. I want to try it out for network coverage in various locations before I make the switch.

1. If I top up online the Min £5 online how many mins/texts will I get. I not interested in data at his stage.

2. Does EE still support 3G for voice and texts? I don't require 3G for data but only for texts/talk as putting my older phone on 4G drains the battery.

3. Do you get a better voice/text connection on 4 G rather than 3G? So I can switch back an forth if required.

Thank you

  1. £5 credit is no enough to buy a pack of calls, texts & data allowances. So you will have to use it for mins & texts at standard rates: 40p / min & 20p / text.
  2. The 3G network has been closed down. So you'll be using 2G for calls & texts.
  3. You can also use 4G Calling (VoLTE) for your calls & texts if your phone is capable of it.

EE don't have a 3G network, it was completely switched off in January 2024. 4G is now EE's base network.

Thanks. I thought that it was only 3G Data that was switched off? not the text/calls

No, the entire 3G radio access network has been decommissioned.
