Using an Orange locked phone

Kahve123

I have an old Siemens S55 phone locked to Orange (last used around 2005)
I tried the EE unlock service but they said its too old & they don't have the codes.

1) Since Orange (& T-mob) is EE, can I just use an EE sim in it?
If so, does it have to be a sim direct from EE or can I use a provider that uses EE network?

2) If it must be unlocked, what are my options?

3) the phone is gsm which as I understand is 2G. & from what I read EE supports 2G until 2029. Is this correct?
(the phone has the old orange sim in it now & it seems to detect T-mob, Voda  networks. I'm not sure if this is reality or a left over preference of UK networks in 2003)

Thanks for your advice.

  1. No, it is locked to Orange.
  2. Probably none.
  3. Yes, EE supports 2G but will start switching it off from May 2029.

Ok, thanks for the info.
Disappointing, but I'll continue to check for unlocking options. I'm really keen to get it back in action, its the best phone I ever had.
I will be extra cautious of the online services, the scam risk is high.
