Is this the credit score that is specific to each individual lender & strictly confidential to them?
Or one that a credit agency is selling you, based on their own specific criteria and is only indicative?

@Kara29 As it’s a flex tariff then you’ll be credit checked as it’s a credit agreement. You don’t get credit without a credit check. It’s a loan of credit for you to then pay that back over the agreement term. It’ll remind your report and will remain there until you pay back the credit. It’ll only affect your score for around 3 months provided you pay on time each month then your score will go back up gradually.

That’s not the complaint ofc u lot do credit score checks but it’s mostly a soft cheak u lot do and when it’s a hard cheak u must tell the customer u will perform a hard search i was never told by the advisor at all that he will do a hard credit score cheak on my name

No, @Kara29 , they won't just soft check if you're taking out a loan, as you are. Soft checks are for when like you are taking out insurance but paying the year upfront or just to check who you are & where you live.

@Kara29 It’s a credit agreement. You are borrowing money to pay for a device you then pay that back over the agreed term. You would have been told it’s a credit agreement, all credit agreements will result in a hard credit check as you are taking on a loan. You could have asked the agent if it was a hard credit check instead of assuming, you didn’t and take no responsibility for not even asking what sort of credit check is done.
as for you lot. We are all customers of EE like you and are not EE staff. We don’t do any credit checks as customers.

That is correct ur getting the whole complaint wrong I said why was I not told they will do a hard search every company I’ve taken loans or anything off have told me under FCA rules, a lender or credit broker must give the customer an adequate explanation of the regulated credit agreement , and must explain the key features of the agreement so the customer can make an informed choice which I never got to because I wasn’t even told he would do a hard search on my account also the person I spoke to the phone didn’t even order the phone to the store so u basically done a hard search on me for no reason because I went in store and had to do the whole thing all over again so

@Kara29 Sorry to say this but that’s your word. (I can’t say what was said to you ). You’ll not be the first person to not hear something said then say I wasn’t told about that. I know full well what was said to be over 2+ years ago when a I agreed to a credit agreement for a flex tariff.
So you’re saying you ordered over the phone and nothing came from it. So you ordered again at a store and got the device. The over the phone order probably got returned as there was no collection at the store or you wasn’t in to take the delivery. If that wasn’t the case you’ll have two lines on your account and you’ll be paying for both of these device/airtime contracts. An order isn’t made than just doesn’t happen.

You also would have done a screen share and if I remember correctly that’s the point you are told it’s a credit agreement and you’ll be credit checked.

I had a hard check when setting up broadband (swapping from sky) it did surprise me as for years I got new phones on credit from EE with no check - they just re-used the original check for the first phone so I understand things did change - I think when they swapped from contract for phone/service together to separate charges for phone and line.
Result was I brought my iPhone 17 pro max from Apple (paid outright) and left the contract phone game (I stuck with EE as a line provider).
