Roam abroad pass

Hello

We are travelling to New Zealand in the near future and would like confirmation about the Roam Abroad Pass as I have received two different lots of information.

During my first conversation with EE I understood that there was a £25 charge for a calendar month which then allowed me to use my standard minutes, text and data plan allowances with no additional charge.

I then contacted EE  again to make sure my understanding was correct only to be told that this was not the case and that I needed to text 500NTL to 150 at a monthly cost of £13.03 plus the £25.00.

Thank you

@Chris1756 : You just need the Roam Abroad Pass. It will allow you to use your UK allowances in NZ with up tp 50GB pm data if you have more.

The Roam Abroad Pass costs £25 per billing month from the billing month you order it (text ROAMING PASS to 150) until the billing month you cancel it (text STOP ROAMING PASS to 150). For all billing months during which you have the Pass it is charged at the full £25. However if the Pass is carried over from the 1st billing month to the next it will be charged pro-rata for that 1st month alone.

There is no 500NTL add-on. You must be referring to 500INTL1 which is for making International Calls from UK & therefore wouldn't be of much use in NZ.

Your understanding is correct, the Roam Abroad pass at £25/month allows use of your UK allowance whilst in a qualifying country (NZ is one) - subject to certain caveats around how your billing date falls in relation to your trip.

The 500NTL shortcode refers to a bundle for making international calls from the UK - this is not roaming.

Thank you for the clarification.

I was also told that I could set a date for the pass to be active as we are in New Zealand for 29 days which are different to the billing month. Is that correct?

It's for you to decide when to activate & deactivate it by texting the appropriate keywords bearing in mind what I told you about billing months.

thank you

Hi @Chris1756

You should be able to add or remove the Roam Abroad Pass in your My EE account.

Chris

@Chris1756 : No, you may set it up while roaming via your MyEE a/c.

But from the thread you 1st posted this, I think you are mixing the Pass up with the roaming ability which is normally enabled before leaving the UK by texting ROAMING to 150 & is necessary before you can even make use of the Pass.
