Discount and free gift hamper

Today I had a phone call from someone claiming to be working for ee offering me a discount and a free gift hamper. I didn't want to give any information over the phone so hung up. They called another 3 times after that and I'm wondering if this is a scam?

Hi @LFitz71

Thanks for coming to the community.

You can check what numbers our partners will call from to see if the number that called is associated with EE.

If the number is not listed, please make sure your husband speaks to his bank as soon as possible to make them aware of what's happened.

Let me know how you get on.

My husband was just telling me he got a similar call & was being put on £5/month in addition was going to get gift hamper with Samsung tablet or Apple watch. I said "why?" EE is running a promotion they said. Unfortunately he gave his bank account as he said they had the charges that had been made on the account already so sounded legit. Going to check this against phone number he received from. Sounds fishy to me...

Thanks, Linzi. Indeed the number wasn't in your list. He's called the bank & EE customer service and all seems to be sorted now. Phew. I thought we both knew better but then there were some details that made it seem genuine.

Thanks so much for letting me know @LFitz71

I'm so pleased to hear you've managed to sort everything out. These calls can often seem genuine but always check with us first if you aren't too sure. We will always update that page I sent over above with any numbers connected to us as well.
