Did you mean:

cant receive sms or calls while abroad

nnnnnnnnnnn
Explorer

while i get an easy solution would be to enable roaming.

1. i do not want to pay their ridiculous fees for just being able to RECEIVE A SINGULAR TEXT

2. myee app gives my the "Sorry, we're having problems. Text INFO to 150 to make your changes."

3. I CANT TEXT 150 BECAUSE I DONT HAVE ROAMING

i cant even contact customer support because i dont have roaming and cant enable roaming. (EE support is like a human centipede) and chat is the most usless feature of all i spent 1 hour chatting to a support staff for them to finally come up with the solution of restarting my phone.

Honestly i just want to be able to retreive my whatsapp code by sms. but EE service is so ridiculously convoluted and absolute dog**bleep**. If i didnt buy a local sim i would basically be stranded with no way of communication in the middle of a random country.

TLDR; LET ME RECEIVE TEXTS

@nnnnnnnnnnn  you need to have a roaming enabled to receive text as it gives you a working signal but your decision not to do this before you left the UK was your decision so why are you upset with EE you made the choice.

And your not charged to receive a texts.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

@nnnnnnnnnnn , are you not able to receive codes via another method, such as email?

There is no point in blaming EE, even if you do not want to spend money whilst abroad, in order to enable to receive text or calls, you should have made sure that you were set up for roaming.

If you cannot do this yourself, if you have Skype, there is an 0800 number you can ring by Clicking on contact EE, you will see it if you look where it says contacting from the UK.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Are you on contract or PAYG? Did you use that SIM for making calls or texts in UK before you left to go abroad?

If you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before you left UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c.

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto. Otherwise login to your MyEE account online & go to Menu > Account Settings > Parental and Data Controls > Roaming Abroad and also Call Abroad and Premium Rate. They will show as ticked if roaming and calling abroad is activated. If not ticked, can you activate these settings?

If you can't enable the Roaming Abroad and the Call Abroad & Premium Rate settings of your online MyEE, you will need to call CS. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. via Skype over WiFi. It should be free.

PAYG is auto enabled for roaming. You won't see any of those settings & don't need to change anything. If outside EU, do you have enough credit for making calls & texts from abroad?

Receiving texts is free wherever you are roaming.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.
