Was this call from EE genuine?

So after browsing the EE website for current deals etc, I get a call from a mobile number some time later from 07973 100601. Claims to be from EE and knows I've been looking either in the app or online and wants to chat. Wanted my name but then wanted to send an OTP that he wanted me to tell him, what it was. I declined at that point as beginning to feel scam-like. Not sure if this is regular practice or something else?

07973 100601 is an EE outbound number. If you call it, there's a recorded announcement with the usual EE voice.

Although you were right to refuse giving an OTP if you're at all unsure.
