I get daily spam texts from names like ‘Sara’ advertising gambling services amongst others. I can’t report them to 7726 because there is no number attached, just the name.
How can I stop this? I don’t want to mute them because they still come up at the top of my inbox constantly.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Thanks for the details and for letting us know.
Are the messages pop ups when viewing certain sites?
Leanne.

I am very sorry and just wanted to make sure these were not pop ups you are receiving and appreciate you confirming these are texts for me. I certainly don't want to waste your time @Ttttttt1
If you give us a call on 150, the team will get these texts looked into for you.
Thank you.
Leanne 🙂

well this is an an unhelpful reply as the OP says there is NO POINT in reporting to 7726 as the Spammer/Scammer does not provide a phone number . Does anyone have any input on this thread that is of genuine use please....?

You can’t block the number because there is no number and for the same reason you can’t report them I’m getting 20 texts a day all from different sources but most lead to the same dirty scamming website I’m sick of it it is making me ill it’s constantly harassing me!! So do I have to change my number?

@Leelee0069
I completely understand why you'd not want to change your number, and certainly it would be best to avoid it if you can.
Networks are unable to block spam messages for specific customers as we'd not know which messages are spam and which are actually wanted, which is why we rely on the Spam reporting service. If enough UK mobile users report a message it will be investigated and blocked.
When you forward the message to 7726, although it will ask for the number the message comes from you can actually reply with the name that shows as the sender instead, it will still be investigated.
The problem with handset devices blocking a "name" rather than a number, is that the name is not unique to the sender. It could be used by any service, which could inadvertently block something you wanted to receive.
I'd have said spam message and calls tend to stop after a few weeks, but as you've been experiencing for a while it may be time to take alternative steps.
If you decide to change your number, you'll need to give Customer Service a call to arrange this.
By the way, does the message have an unsubscribe link on it?

"unsubscribe link"? I hope you're not recommending that customers click on links in a spam text message? Never click on any link within spam text message. Report and delete should be advise you give.

I am having this exact same issue, how can a text come from no number? Why do EE allow that?
Also every reply from Leanne from EE shows she has not read what the customer has said. Shocking lack of attention to detail from her. Really shocking.
